Kovdev’s Brand New Android Icon Pack Review – Domo

Dave Kover, a well known icon and wallpaper artist in the Android community, released his brand new icon pack on the Play store today. The design of the Domo icons are essentially very simple squares with heavily rounded off edges, hence the name which links with a famous Japanese mascot.

Already within the first day of launching there is already 1650+ unique icons which all look very uniform and none seem to stand out of place. This is a pretty large number of icons for a pack to start off with, however there is always an application which is a lot less well known and therefore the amount of people who actually want an icon design for it is a lot less than apps such as YouTube or Twitter, even though a few of the apps on my phone do not have icons in the Domo pack, it is pretty hard to identify which ones these are since each of the app’s icon is automatically put in to the rounded off square with the added shadows.

Some other noticeable features with the Domo icon pack is the:

▪ Cloud-based wallpaper gallery
▪ Category-based icon library with Search
▪ Quick-launch Apply actions
▪ High-definition icons
▪ Muzei live wallpaper support

In terms of the overall design, the icons have their 2D logo in the foreground with a wide range of colours to make each icon stand out, we then have a small black shadow around the logo, as well as a very hard shadow line running down the centre of the icon. Although the Domo icon pack is not completely flat like of most of the packs I usually use, I really do love the high quality design of the icons, as well as the very impressive wallpapers.

Moving on to wallpapers, we have a bunch of very abstract and well designed pieces of art. Each wallpaper is not saved to your device when you download Domo from the Play store, instead all of the wallpapers are cloud-based which means that any unwanted wallpapers do not take up space on your device, however if you do decide that you want to download a particular wallpaper you still can.

Domo works with a long list of different launchers ranging from Nova launcher, Apex launcher and Aviate, all the way to smaller launchers such as Smart launcher, as well as Solo launcher. This means that there is definitely no reason to worry about whether or not Domo is compatible with your preference of an Android launcher.

Domo coming in at £1.20 ($1.99) it really is a killer deal if you love customising your Android smartphone or just want a change over the standard icons which come with the skin on your phone.
